Health & Wellness

At MCCPS, our Health and Wellness program equips students with the knowledge and skills to make healthy choices for themselves. Beyond traditional physical education, students engage in age-appropriate lessons on nutrition, fitness, personal safety, growth and development, substance awareness, disease prevention, and social-emotional well-being.

Students explore topics such as healthy relationships, stress management, sleep hygiene, online safety, and decision-making. Our curriculum also emphasizes health advocacy, teaching students to identify responsible behaviors, analyze media influences, set personal health goals, and develop strategies to maintain safety and well-being.

MCCPS is supported by a dedicated Health and Wellness Team, composed of staff members including the school nurse, physical education teacher, school counselor, and school administrators. This team leads school-wide initiatives that promote a strong and inclusive culture and address health and wellness issues that may impact student success.

Through these experiences, MCCPS students build lifelong habits that support both physical and mental health, preparing them to make informed choices and lead healthy, balanced lives.
