Charter Scratch Kitchen

Nourishing Success, One Meal at a Time

At MCCPS, we believe that good nutrition and learning go hand in hand. Through our Charter Scratch Kitchen, we proudly provide free breakfast and free lunch to all students every school day. Our Food Services Department prepares fresh, wholesome meals daily using high-quality ingredients, including low-fat proteins, whole grains, and fresh fruits and vegetables sourced from local farmers throughout the school year. In addition to daily meals, fresh fruit is available free of charge during snack time and/or after lunch, and students who have eaten their lunch may choose to purchase a dessert from our school snack bar. With school meals providing up to 40% of a child’s daily nutritional needs, our program plays a vital role in supporting academic success, overall health, and lifelong healthy habits. All students are eligible for free meals under the Community Eligibility Provision (CEP) through the 2025–2026 school year, and no household application is required.
